Met up today with angelchild  in Maidstone after battling through traffic - argh!  She came laden with early birthday pressies for me, which was lovely - I rarely get birthday pressies!  Inside a very pink gift bag were stickers, G&B, a teddy keyring, nutty coffee, a notebook, lots of gel pens and a SquirkRodent birthday card :)

We tried to find The Pilot, hopefully home to a new Maidstone OBCZ since the demise of Coffee Romba, but had no luck.  It looks like it could be a fair way out of the town centre which is a bit of a blow.

Had a peek in Lush to see if there was anything suitable for the NSSVS, and Vikki squirted me (drenched me?!) in 'Karma' - their posh perfume, which she adores.  It smells like burnt oranges.  Or mildewy joss sticks.  Or a combination.  Nasty stuff, that I suspect could remove paint at 50 paces ;)  Have now reassessed my opinion of her, and noted that she likes strange stuff and I'll make sure I'm always standing upwind of her...

Have spent a pleasant evening colouring in Altair Designs - well, a small section of one anyway.  They take forever if you try to stay in the lines and stuff.  This was inspired by Vikki's purchase today of 2 new colouring books to play with.

When I grow up, I'd like to be a pilot.

Quote of the day from Rowan:

"Mum. I'm not a chew toy."

Pah...he shouldn't have such cute ears and nose then, should he?

Went into Maidstone yesterday and was disappointed that Rowan's copy of Bloodfever hadn't arrived, but managed to pick up some yummy chocs for the forthcoming BCUK Not So Secret Valentine :)

Arrived early at the cafe to meet up with Star69 and caffcaff and

Happy New Year!

Okay, I haven't posted on here for ages, so must get back into the swing of things.  Work and life have just been so busy for the last couple of months so I've let things slide!

Photo is of part of my NSSFC that Beebarf sent me - it must have taken her hours.  I'm touched and adore it!

Will take a pic of the fantastic yarn that hellomango spun for me for Rowan once he gets home from school and can model it!

Off to meet up with Vikki tomorrow morning for coffee and a natter - Star69 is coming too :)  Just hope Vikki doesn't mind me using her as a courier as I've got a couple of bits to get to bookcrossers in London...but shhh, she doesn't know yet ;)

Been very good and had a spring clean this week, and now smell of bonfire - urgh!

I've Been Interviewed!

By angelchild because I wanted to see what she'd ask...I forgot I'd have to answer them :S

1) What are your 3 most treasured possessions (sorry, they cant be people or animals) and why?

A locket my parents gave me when I had Rowan.

Handmade Mother's Day card.

Photograph of my Mum when she was about 8 with my Nana.

2) What was the last thing you baked and what is the recipe?

Toast!  Lol - I blew up my toaster a few weeks ago by dropping a metal knife into it, and trying to get it out with another one (don't try this at home!).  So toast was baked in the oven this morning.  Recipe:  One idiot and bread.

3) Describe your ideal day?

I've thought long and hard about this one - and to be honest, I don't know.  A day in bed, reading and scoffing chocolates?  A day's falconry?  There was a tree in a wood I went to as a young girl, with branches that swept the woodland floor on each side - it was very peaceful apart from a stream babbling nearby and various creatures on the prowl.  The light dappled through the tree and it was like being under a green ocean.  I think I'd like to go back there again and just be.

4) You've been given a voucher for the Open University which intitles you to study any course you want (free of charge). What would it be and why?

Classical Studies.  I took classical studies at school for two years - which was the most they offered, and absolutely loved it.  I very proudly got 99% in my end of year exam, which earnt me a whack over the head with my teacher's clipboard for missing out on the last percent!

5) What bad habit have you got that you would like to change?

None.  I like my bad habits!

Thanks Vikki - that was suprisingly hard to answer!

1 -- Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 -- I will respond; I'll ask you five questions, the content of which will depend on who you are!
3 -- You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 -- You'll include this explanation.
5 -- You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

Loopy1's Creative Challenge!

In response to Loopy1's call to take up something crafty, here are mine...

Firstly, a Halloween card for Rowan (Okay, I would have made this anyway...shhh!) The bats and pumpkins are attached to the end of the rafia, so swing around.

And secondly, a Christmas box to store my Christmas cards in - I love the fabric and have been itching to get round to doing something with it, so this was the perfect excuse :)

I had real fun doing these - I love the sense of achievement when a project is finished :)
